Ortofon created some excitement this year with the introduction of their new high end cartridge model called the MC Windfeld, and new versions of the AS-212S and AS-309S tonearms. The tonearms are J-shaped designs with improved fluid damped gimble bearings, in a choice of 10.5 and 12 inch versions. They also include detachable headshells for those who love the Ortofon SPU series of cartridges!

The Ortofon MC Windfeld was on demo with a TW Acoustic table and Schroeder arm combination. I don’t know which component contributed the most, but the sound was indeed very special! In the last few years, Ortofon has introduced several models, especially the Kontrapunkt and Rondo series, which are vast improvements from their predecessors. The Windfeld is another excellent example of their goal to challenge the best cartridge brands in the market, and they might just succeed with this one!
